Loved hearing your perspective! We started out bedsharing, but I fell into that social media hole of what I “should” be doing (and what they want to sell us). I feel like I’ve fallen away from my intuition and doing what others say is biologically correct and evidence based. Versus seeing what my baby needs and wants!

The obsession with sleeping through the night is real - how do you care for yourself on those hard nights esp working full time? Do you find following wake windows helps at all?

Thank you Courtney! Ooof, the obsession with STTN is soooo real. But what I observed is that it's mostly just an obsession in the United States where our maternity leave and care is SO minuscule. I will say for us, we don't really have those tough nights anymore that we bedshare. We had them a lottttt when I was trying to get her to sleep in a bassinet or crib (even if it was directly next to me) and it was brutal working full time and getting a few hours of broken sleep. That's what ultimately led us to sleeping together in bed because it was the only way we could all sleep! It was one of those 'aha' moments where I was like why the heck am I trying to change this if it's working for us? We don't follow wake windows either! I just look for her cues when she's sleepy/hungry. I know schedules work really well for some but for us it's just worked so much better when we go with the flow!
